The Forklift Operator is responsible for moving units into and out of inventory. This job is critical as their success means efficiency for the warehouse. The Forklift Operator loads/unloads materials for deliveries; moves them to/from storage, racks, staging, loading areas and finally into trucks for delivery.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to safely move large units around the warehouse
- Load and unload trucks for receiving and deliveries without damaging the material
- Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
- Follow shipping instructions
- Ensure products are secure
- Stack runners, pallets and packaging materials
- Perform daily equipment checks
- Refuel forklifts
- Examine products for quality standards
Requirements
- Must work well with others
- Be cautious and careful with heavy items
- Have good eye-hand-foot coordination
- Be able to assess weights of pallets
- Judge distances and heights, to ensure safety of workers and material
- Ability to work in high pace environment, under pressure following shipping instructions and time limits
