We are looking for an Information System Specialist to join our organization in a Non-Departmental, but strategic role reporting to the Senior VP and National Sales VP. Individuals will be working in a team environment that is responsible for the overall growth, strategic development, improvement and coordination of the operational processes and functions across the organization.


Responsibilities

The Information Systems Specialist will be responsible for supporting and developing the Enterprise Resource Planning system of our organization. They will be responsible for designing and implementing our information systems, developing Standard Operating Procedures, and maintaining hardware and software operations. Additionally, we are looking for a candidate that can identify data sources, collect data through research and surveys, implement data storage methods, and ensure information systems are streamlined and working properly. Also, they will be in charge of helping retrieve necessary information from the company’s database and presenting data reports to the management either annually, monthly, or when the management requests.

It will be necessary for to have knowledge of information systems, data processes, Microsoft suite, and office tools for this role. You should also have analytical skills, customer service skills, listening skills, communication skills, interpretation skills, interpersonal skills, and knowing Java, Python and Perl would be a plus. 

This individual will also be in charge of setting up, managing and troubleshooting the technology systems that our business uses to maintain our computer and software networks. They will be required to respond to hardware problems, updating system software and tracking the data and communications used on our network.

Responsibilities:
1. Application Design, Development, and Support

  • conducting business analysis at the process level
  • designing system logic
  • programming and testing
  • documentation
  • may encompass system integration, system interfaces, system customizations, or complete applications
  • support of production systems in terms of problem analysis and solution development
  • participate in the evaluation and selection of programming languages, tools, methodologies, etc.

2. Application Administration

  • ensure appropriate applications infrastructure exists for development and production work
  • participate in the evaluation and selection of programming languages, tools, methodologies, etc.
  • coordination of technical components within various projects
  • proactive monitoring of technical directions and strategies of existing applications and tools
  • provide technical guidance and support for development activities
  • strategic technical architecture planning

3. Database Administration

  • ensure appropriate infrastructure exists for development and production databases
  • participate in the evaluation and selection of database systems, tools, methodologies, etc.
  • proactive monitoring of technical directions and strategies of existing database systems and tools
  • provide technical guidance and support for development activities
  • strategic technical architecture planning for database system components
  • database system administration including installation, tuning, performance monitoring, and upgrading

4. Project Leadership & Management

  • conducting business analysis
  • designing system logic
  • project planning, communication, etc.
  • assignment of tasks and supervision of work for technical and functional staff dedicated to the project
  • provide mentoring support for junior staff (technically as well as functional knowledge specific to the assignment)
  • strategic business information systems planning

Requirements

An Information Systems Specialist is expected to remain technically current with the tools and the applications that they are supporting, as well as with emerging technologies related to these systems.

The nature of these assignments is such that an Information Systems Specialist may be required to work irregular hours on occasion, and/or be available on-call to support production applications.

A university degree in a related discipline, or equivalent, is required
